More about the preschool
The work with the children is good. Their teacher is very good and she really cares about the children and their families. The preschool seems quite well supplied with different art and craft supplies. The children have been learning how to cursive write their vowels. Most days they have 2 worksheets to work on, a craft or two, some singing, and since Sarah and I have been there some english as well. The parents when they drop their children off all speak with the teacher and every night the children take their homework books home with homework to do. Remember that these kids are 4 and 5 yrs old.
There is a lot of things on the walls. Mostly, centres - professions, alphabet, numbers, vowels, story centre, etc. It is really quite well organized.
These are just a few photos of the classroom and the children and some of their parents.
This is a picture of me with all the children that was at school yesterday. They are all very sweet and cute too. Some of the children are very smart and catch onto a concept right away, others are a bit more behind and don't seem to quite get it yet.
FYI
I asked about the low doorway and apparently the street was a lot lower and the door was a regular sized door but when the road was paved they raised it up by about 3 feet.
I also asked about the little boy that is older than the kids in the preschool and he does go to school but not until the afternoon.
Please pray for the children of Peru that they can all have such a good start to their education with teachers that care about them and their families.
