Sacred Valley tour

Yesterday was a beautiful day! The sun was shining and it was nice and warm. Places seem to be more beautiful when the sun is shining. I wonder why that is?

I took an all day tour to the Sacred Valley. We went in a big bus even though there was only 9 of us. We stopped at a market at Pisac. Apparently, the sunday market is the best because the peruvian farmers come and in the morning they trade their produce for things that they need back on the farm, then they go to church in the afternoon before heading back home to their farms before it gets dark. The market was fun and our guide took us into a jewelry shop where they were making silver jewelry with stones and shells. It was very interesting to see and watch. The jewelry was very, very beautiful.

I only had a half an hour to poke around the market and see some of the peoples wares for sale. Most definitely not enough time.

The valley itself was very beautiful and the main crop along the bottom was white corn. A river runs along the bottom and the soil appears to be very fertile. There are some places where the Incas had built steppes into the mountains in order to utilize that land as well.

Next we went to a beautiful place and had a buffet lunch. The food was spectacular! I even tried alpaca meat which was very good indeed.

We carried on from there and went to some ruins and walked up a whole bunch of stairs. You get winded very easily here as the altitude is very high. I think we are close to 10 000 feet. The ruins had very large stones at the top (again cut to fit exactly).

The beauty of the mountains and the high plains, the foothills to the Andes, but not really the foothills because you are at an elevation of 10 000 feet you are already high in the mountains was something to experience. And when the sun shone on some of the mountains they glowed a whitish, yellowish, cream colour. I thought I was looking at a glacier but it was only the sun reflecting off the mountain. God is truly the Master of Creation, and I thank Him for showing me some of his wonders.

Amazing experiences in an amazing place. God is good. Very, very good!

Please pray for my volunteer project. That God's love shines through to the people that I meet.
